Noosa- A Foodie’s Heaven

From fuss-free to high class, Japanese to modern American… dining in Noosa offers a variety that is as diverse in origin as it is in glamour. Inspired by our subtropical climate and quality local produce, many of our restaurateurs place a keen focus on celebrating home-grown farmers and sustainable fare, making a meal in Noosa a truly unique and delicious experience. If treating your tastebuds is your idea of a great holiday, read on for our quick guide to some of the best Noosa eats.

On your Ocean Breeze Resort doorstep

Some of the best food in Noosa is created within just a few lazy steps of your accommodation.

If the hype about El Capitano doesn’t tempt you, the gentle scent of their flaming hot pizzas sure will! During your stay at Ocean Breeze Resort, you may be enticed by the smell of their famous wood-fired creations baking in our resort surrounds. Follow your nose for quality Italian favourites, which are prepared on organic sourdough bases and topped with delicacies from producers in and around Noosa. Oh, and take some to check out the array of organic and local wines or refreshing cocktails on their beverage list.

Fresh flavours and beach days go together like, well, Raw + Rice. This popular haunt serves palate-pleasing poke bowls brimming with goodness. Select from salmon, tuna, swordfish, tofu or poached chicken options or BYO (that’s build your own).

If you have a sweet tooth, head for Hastings Street hotspot Coconut Head … where guilt-free deserts are a reality! Their plant based, superfood treats are free from refined sugars and the selection of raw cakes, smoothies and chia cups is sure to satisfy your craving.

For something a little more intimate, head to Locale Noosa. Inspired by Italian tradition, this restaurant is immersed in gardens and features an ever-changing menu to bring you the season’s very best flavours, complemented by an impressive wine, beer and cocktail menu.

A little further afield

Half the fun of an adventure is the getting there … For a unique Noosa experience, take a brief and leisurely classic ferry ride to a number of drool-worthy dining destinations.

Rickys River Bar and Restaurant is perched on the banks of the Noosa River and is perfect for long lunches or sunset cocktails, while Wasabi serves multi award-winning Japanese a-la carte fare, an extensive bar list and the innovative “Omakase” (chef’s choice) of either seven or nine courses.

If you love seafood, a visit to the spectacular Noosa Boathouse will be a Noosa holiday highlight. The three level restaurant floats on the Noosa River, offering unbeatable views and a famous three-tier seafood tower (among other options), or for something more casual, you can grab n’ go with delectable takeaway fish and chips, perfect for a riverbank picnic.

Alternatively, a short car ride will lead you to a locals’ Noosaville favourite Belmondos. This oasis is equal parts deli, butcher, baker, expresso store and wholesale market. Hit this hotspot for breakfast or lunch and collect some unique supplies to stock your Ocean Breeze Resort fridge for the remainder of your holiday. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Festival flavours

It’s no surprise that Noosa’s passion for good food has spawned boutique annual celebrations that attract thousands of visitors from across the country and the globe!

Without a doubt, the crown jewel of Noosa’s events calendar is the Noosa Food and Wine Festival … a five day extravaganza of all things creative cuisine and cocktails. Each May, an all-star cast of Australia’s finest chefs and food-loving crowds gather to enjoy exceptional dining in breathtaking surrounds. Noosa’s restaurants, cafes and custom built venues will this year host a jaw-dropping array of themed events from 16 – 20 May.

Launching later this year, The Curated Plate is a four-day destination celebration of quality harvest and creative, high end chefs. Combining famed national and international chefs with acclaimed local producers, this fledgling event is sure to be hit with both residents and holiday makers. More detail about the event will be released in March, so keep your eyes peeled!
